%name Melissa Tuckey: A Voice for Eco JusticeMelissa Tuckey is an avid gardener and environmental activist and the author of two poetry collections, Tenuous Chapel, winner of the ABZ Press First Book Prize, and Rope as Witness. She conceived and edited the ground breaking Ghost Fishing: An Eco-Justice Poetry Anthology%name Melissa Tuckey: A Voice for Eco Justice. She is co-founder of Split This Rock, a national literary organization, which supports social justice poetry with workshops, readings, and a bi-annual conference in Washington, DC, and also is Emeritus Fellow at the Black Earth Institute, an artistic community dedicated to “the interconnectedness of all living beings and this earth we share.” In addition, Tuckey is a collaborative performing artist who has worked with composers and musicians to bring poetry and music to the stage.

Poetry & Planet is produced by Ethan Goffman.  Wilfred Owen’s “Dulce et Decorum Est” and Yusef Komunyakaa’s “You and I Are Disappearing” are read by R. Michael Oliver.  Musical excerpts from “Elements of Life” and “Earth Revisited” are written and performed by Reginald Cyntje, with vocals by Christie Dashiell.  Aural interludes are by Douglas Harvey.
