Naomi Thiers grew up in California and Pittsburgh, but her chosen home is Washington, DC. She is author of three books of poetry: Only The Raw Hands Are Heaven (Washington Writers Publishing House) and, from Finishing Line Press, She Was a Cathedral and In Yolo County, which tells the story of her grandparents’ mildly scandalous courtship in 1920’s California. Her poetry, fiction, book reviews, articles, and interviews have been published in many magazines, and she has taught writing in settings from universities to homeless shelters. She is a mother, a music lover, a frequent activist for women’s, immigrants’ and human rights, and an editor with Educational Leadership magazine.
