Our Trees: Cooling and Carbon Sequestration

The Los Angeles Urban Forest program seeks to evaluate the benefits provided by trees including cooling and carbon sequestration through citizen science volunteering. In August 2014, 135 volunteers studied over 400 trees across greater LA through the efforts of Earthwatch Institute, Natural History Museum of LA County, UC Riverside, Amigos de los Rios, TreePeople, Heschel School, and The Nature Conservancy. In this video, Dr. Darrel Jenerette shares preliminary findings and explains why this research is important.
