Rock Stars Call for Fracking Ban

“One of the most critical environmental issues of our time is banning fracking everywhere because it destroys our water, our communities and our planet.” —Bonnie Raitt

“These days images of our planet are so common that we often overlook how precious and beautiful it is. I wrote this song as a reminder of the importance of all of us being stewards of our planet, keeping it healthy for the next generations.” —Michael Franti

If you’re unfamiliar with fracking, it’s one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time. President Obama recently unveiled a new set of regulations to curb fracking, but despite his efforts, communities around the country are continuing to experience the harmful effects of the practice, which includes sensory, respiratory and neurological damage.

To combat the problem, Jason Samel has pulled together dozens of artist to produce “Buy This Fracking Album,” a forthcoming, major compilation album to raise awareness about the controversial practice of Fracking. The album will come out on June 23 and fans can pre-order it now.

Samel is no stranger to activism and using music to inspire change. He was heavily involved in Occupy Wall Street and produced the widely publicized ‘Occupy This Album’ release, “a compilation of music by, for and inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement and the 99%” that was covered everyone from Time to Forbes. Proceeds from his new album will benefit Marcellus Project and other non-profits working to ban fracking.
